OMG! My Computer’s Gonna Be SO Fast!

OMG! My Computer's Gonna Be SO Fast!

Okay, so I’m totally clueless about all this tech stuff, but even *I* can see this is a good deal. They’re having a sale on WD_Black SN770 internal SSDs, and apparently, these things are like, the best. I’ve been wanting to upgrade my computer’s storage for ages. My current setup is so slow it makes watching paint dry seem like a thrilling adventure. Seriously, loading a webpage takes longer than brewing a proper cup of coffee – and I’m talking about a *really* good pour-over, we’re not talking instant here!

The deal is at Walmart, and they’re offering $40 off the 2TB model, bringing it down to $109, and $20 off the 1TB model. I mean, come on! That’s like, practically stealing, right? I’m not even sure what TB means exactly (terabytes? Sounds big!), but I know my computer is currently groaning under the weight of approximately a million photos of my cat, Mittens. She’s a very photogenic feline, I’ll give her that.

So, what’s the big deal with SSDs anyway? I did some (very) basic research, and apparently, these things are way faster than traditional hard drives. It’s like the difference between a snail and a cheetah racing across the Serengeti – although, to be fair, Mittens sometimes moves at a similar pace to the snail. Anyway, faster loading times for games, programs, and everything else means I can actually *do* things on my computer without resorting to staring blankly at the screen for extended periods, wondering if the internet is actually down or if my computer is simply having an existential crisis.

This whole SSD thing reminds me of a hilarious time I tried to upgrade my computer myself. I watched a YouTube tutorial – naturally – thinking, “How hard can it be?” Spoiler alert: it was very hard. I managed to successfully disconnect everything… except the power supply. Let’s just say sparks flew, my cat screamed, and I ended up with a minor electrical burn on my finger. Let’s just say, my cat was far more graceful in the ensuing chaos. Mittens somehow managed to leap onto the top of the computer tower before I even realized the smoke was coming from the PC. She seemed to be enjoying the whole ordeal, perhaps in some strange feline way. The video I was following had skipped the whole “unplugging *everything* before working” part. Now, I’m a much bigger advocate for professional help when it comes to computer upgrades.

Another time, I accidentally downloaded a virus thinking it was a free screen saver. This led to a five-hour battle against pop-up ads that looked remarkably similar to the official website for my bank, not that I had to use it because of my lack of computer skills, obviously. It was like playing a really frustrating game of whack-a-mole, except the moles were constantly evolving into new, more annoying forms of malware. Suffice to say, I’m slightly more cautious now. But still, this SSD sale is too good to pass up. My computer is crying for an upgrade, and maybe this time, I’ll stick to the professionals. Or at least, read the instructions carefully.

So yeah, WD_Black SN770 SSD sale at Walmart. Go get it before it’s gone! My cat and I are waiting for faster load times. (Mittens mostly because she wants to see more cat videos.)
